A Blue Wedding
Our niece who loves the blue French toile patterns inspired this piece. I wanted to do something special to commemorate her wedding day but felt intimidated tackling something so different from my usual.
My challenges were drawing her wedding flowers, white roses and hydrangeas, in a way that framed the subject tastefully without feeling too busy or too empty in spots. I used ‘Prussian Blue’ for the entire painting while attempting to illustrate a white venue and white florals on white paper. I had to focus on the shadows to try pulling that off. I love how the final piece came together and would love to do more like this.
